Weight Loss Programs and Extreme Diets Will Never Work

by Robert Kaufman

There are more people than you think out there that are just like you. These people are overweight and exhausted from trying worthless diet and exercise programs. At first, the diet is easy, but then it becomes a burden to maintain. Once again, you feel guilty and upset because you have failed at yet another diet attempt.

Does the above description sound like you? Are you angry and frustrated about why your diet programs are not working? Just like you, many others feel the same way. There are countless reasons explaining why diets fail and this article will cover the most important.

You program may have been a bad program that resulted in failure. Maintaining an extreme diet will fail on you because it is too difficult to maintain. Eating specific fruits or performing weird exercises or workouts for long periods of time is eventually not sustainable. If your looking to stay slim, you’ve got to pick a routine that you can maintain consistently for the long-term.

Another reason why you don’t stick to your weight loss program could be that you were lacking support from those around you. Perhaps family members didn’t back you up and pressured you to just take one bite of dessert with the rest of them. Maybe your friends didn’t respect your decision to start working out; perhaps they even made fun of you! Support is critical. Try joining a weight loss support group full of people just like you, or hiring a personal trainer to help you stay motivated.

A third reason could be that you were dieting without exercise, or exercising without eating right. You didn’t see results, and so you quit. The two need to go hand in hand for a sensible workout program that is actually going to help you drop pounds. Any plan you choose must include both diet and exercise.

Another reason was that you expected results far too quickly. Diets take time to work, and your body may take even more time to adjust to your new diet before weight loss is noticed. Your body is resistant and will require you to use diet and exercise to steer it to shed pounds. Stick to a well designed program, and the results you want will be achieved.

A final reason for you to quit your weight loss program could be that you lacked a bona fide commitment. It is impossible to begin a new lifestyle with only half the motivation. Diet and exercise plans require full mental commitment. You will find yourself taking shortcuts around your diet and become frustrated when the scale goes up not down. Personally commit to this workout plan from day 1 and don’t look back. Remember that if you continue to do what you always did then you will get what you always got.

It turns out that the weight loss secret really isn’t a secret at all. It’s the truth that we always knew: eating right and regularly exercising will help us lose weight. There are no shortcuts to getting healthy or trim. That’s it. there’s no simple “fat loss 4 idiots” cure. So find a program that you enjoy and can sustain. When it includes a balance of a sensible diet and exercise you’ll be there in no time.
